2025/2026 Events and Visits

The programme runs from September 2025 with a winter break in January 2026. Meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of the month starting at 7.30pm in the Salem Church Hall, Main Street, Burley in Wharfedale, LS29 7BT. Meetings are free for members. Visitors pay £2. Refreshments are available before the meeting. 13th November 2025 – Weeds Glorious Weeds: Following his informative and entertaining talk ‘The 12 Plants of Christmas’, Ian Brand from Wharfedale Naturalist Society returns to talk about why weeds are or can be great.

11th December 2025 - An Introduction to Japanese Gardens: Andy Bolton from the Japanese Garden Society is a specialised garden designer who also grows plants in the Japanese style.  He will impart some of his knowledge in this illustrated talk.

January – Winter Break

12th February 2026 - York Gate Garden: So many of our speakers reference the garden at York Gate in their talks and we are pleased to welcome Jack Ogg the current Head Gardener to share his ongoing vision and development of this beautiful local garden.
